Garbage? Litter? Rubbish?

There are different words to call it. We can call it garbage when we refer to waste that comes from our homes, mainly from the kitchen. We can call it trash when it’s mostly leaves, grass clippings, junk in general. It may be things such as cans, bottles and paper left by people on the streets; then we call it litter. We can talk about refuse, things you don’t need and throw away. British also call it rubbish.

The important point, however, is that no matter what you call it, garbage/waste/trash/rubbish is making our world collapse. We have our livelihood, our well-being and even our health, to consider. So that is why we say “Pick-it-up-please”. We as a society have to stop throwing away our waste, no matter how we call it. It has to be picked up and properly taken care of or our future will be flooded by garbage.

We want a cleaner planet. That is only possible by the simple act of picking up trash and recycling it responsibly. People of all ages need to be educated to routinely “pick-it-up-please” from our homes and our neighborhoods, from our parks and open spaces, from our beaches and seas. Make a long-lasting difference in people’s attitude towards litter. Build greater awareness and respect for the environment, for each other and for our future generations.
